The diverse practice and intimate size of Dilworth attracts lawyers with a broad range of talent and exceptional energy. The sophistication and medium size of Dilworth Paxson provides our attorneys with numerous opportunities to be a significant contributor. Dilworth is always interested in interviewing highly qualified attorneys and legal staff. Even if there is no specific opening listed that matches your credentials, if you have a strong academic background as well as an efficient, solution-oriented approach to the practice of law, feel free to submit your resume to hiring@dilworthlaw.com. Similarly, if you are an experienced legal secretary or paralegal seeking a new professional challenge, please forward your resume to Human Resources. Dilworth's Summer ProgramEach summer, Dilworth holds its summer program for selected second-year law students with a view towards developing the candidates into future Dilworth attorneys. Our summer associates are given a realistic experience in the practice of law generally and in Dilworth's culture and practice specifically, which assists in enhancing the students' education and further defining their career goals. Dilworth's summer program is not operated as a rotation through departments. In keeping with the flexible nature of Dilworth's practice, students are exposed to both corporate and litigation practice throughout the summer. Assignments are typical associate-level assignments, which may range from the standard research memorandum to preparing arbitration memoranda, writing portions of briefs and forming corporations. We endeavor to provide opportunities for our summer associates to attend closings, depositions, oral arguments, trials, negotiations and other proceedings in which Dilworth attorneys are involved. These opportunities not only provide additional training to the summer associates, but also offer a more realistic view of different areas of practice. The small size of the program allows participants in our summer program to interact with partners and associates on a regular basis. Our summer program is coordinated by two attorneys, generally a partner and an associate. Each student is assigned an associate mentor prior to coming to Dilworth. Summer associates are evaluated individually by the assigning attorneys, who are encouraged to provide feedback on the completed assignment directly to the student. The more formal mid-summer review process allows the student to obtain feedback on the progress to date and any suggestions for improvements that might be necessary before final decisions concerning associate offers are made. Dilworth holds several social events during the summer to allow the summer associates to interact on a more informal basis with Dilworth attorneys. Recent events include sailing on the Chesapeake Bay, tours of museums, sporting events, bowling parties, and wine and cheese tastings.
