Dilworth's Tax Group provides a broad range of legal services to a wide variety of clients, including individuals and closely-held businesses to Fortune 500 corporations. Members of the Group are seasoned in sophisticated tax planning, involving federal, state, and local issues including the following:

  • Federal, state, and local issues
  • Representation of clients before the Internal Revenue Service (IRS)
  • Complex civil and criminal tax litigation
  • Real estate and other investment syndications
  • Tax-exempt financing
  • Mergers and acquisitions
  • Insolvencies
  • Pension and employee benefits planning

A unique resource of Dilworth's Tax Group is that many of its lawyers have experience in tax controversy work, having served as trial attorneys at the IRS or the US Department of Justice. These attorneys have represented many firm clients in complex tax litigation and administrative settlements involving a wide range of tax controversy resolution. While we occasionally draw upon our Litigation Department for support, all tax litigation is handled by a tax attorney, providing both tax litigation experience and technical acumen.

State & Local Taxation

In the area of state and local taxation, Dilworth's Tax Group is actively involved in representing clients in real estate assessment appeals in Philadelphia County and in the adjacent counties of Bucks, Chester, Delaware and Montgomery. Dilworth tax attorneys work in coordination with the Firm's Real Estate representing clients contesting real estate valuations. We have an extensive tax litigation background in the Pennsylvania courts, including a major Pennsylvania Supreme Court case involving a challenge to a personal property tax structure utilized by many counties in the Commonwealth. Dilworth tax attorneys also regularly represent clients in state and local income, sales, and employment tax claims.

Dilworth Tax Group attorneys are also active professionally, serving the Tax Sections of the Philadelphia and American Bar Associations, conducting tax seminars, and publishing timely and relevant guidance for the profession.
