Honorable Nelson Diaz Receives Prestigious National Hispanic Hero Award at 38th Annual USHLI National Conference
Dilworth Paxson attorney Nelson Diaz received the National Hispanic Hero Award from the United States Hispanic Leadership Institute at the 38th National Conference.
The award, which is the national organization’s most prestigious honor, was presented to Diaz on February 22nd during the Hispanic Legends Awards Dinner.
According to USHLI, the award is presented to individuals, “who have reached widely in their lives to lift others up and who have reached the highest pinnacles of power and influence in their careers.”
“Nelson Diaz is one of those Hispanic Heroes,” the USHLI continues. “Throughout his life he has fought for and defended the rights of Hispanics, helped countless people find jobs, secure housing and health care. He has helped fledgling businesses secure capital, non-profits provide vital social services, and served on a corporate board, to mention a few among numerous examples.”
Diaz served as the City Solicitor of Philadelphia, before becoming the youngest and first Latino judge elected in Pennsylvania.
He was later appointed General Counsel of the Department of Housing and Urban Development by President Bill Clinton.
Currently, Diaz remains Of Counsel at Dilworth Paxson.
