Overview
Our Corporate and Government Investigations Practice Group is specifically designed to understand, resolve, and prevent situations in which our clients face civil or criminal exposure. We conduct internal investigations that minimize liability risks and address regulatory and government enforcement actions and other litigation. We advise clients on voluntary disclosure and waiver of privilege issues, as well as on disciplinary and remedial measures to be taken. Our team helps clients develop compliance and risk mitigation strategies, including designing and implementing compliance programs, identifying company-specific risk areas, as well as monitoring compliance.
We defend officers, directors and trustees of public and private companies, as well as non-profits. We also represent audit committees and special committees in corporate governance, breach of fiduciary duty, and failure to implement or oversee internal controls actions, to name a few.
Dilworth attorneys have successfully defended clients in investigations and enforcement actions by the U.S. Department of Justice, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, and other government agencies regarding a variety of matters, including health care fraud, securities fraud, bank regulatory violations, money laundering, accounting irregularities, corruption, tax fraud and whistleblower claims under federal and state False Claims Acts, Sarbanes-Oxley Act, and Dodd-Frank Act, among other statutes.
Dilworth has earned these successes. We know how regulators think and investigations work because we have both conducted and defended against them. Our practice group is headed by a former federal prosecutor who headed up the Philadelphia United States Attorney Office’s Criminal Division, later served as Senate Counsel, and has since won multiple high profile defense cases. It also includes a former federal healthcare fraud prosecutor, Healthcare Compliance Director for a Fortune 100 company, and outside general counsel to a hospital system. These diverse, real world experiences give us a unique ability to use complex laws and facts in complex multi-faceted environments to benefit our clients.
